The Recreational Vehicle (RV) market is “exploding” as consumers look for safe, accessible ways to relax and enjoy the outdoors while practicing social distancing. Amidst the scramble to meet demand, new makes, models and manufacturers are jumping into the market. A product nameplate helps consumers with the buying process by linking that brand with desirable characteristics, such as quality, durability or design. While the average consumer will more than likely purchase a single RV, their level of satisfaction can help boost brand popularity. People are 90% more likely to trust and buy from a brand recommended by a friend or family member.

Nutron Nameplate can offer RV manufacturers extensive experience designing and fabricating nameplates specifically tailored to communicate brand identity. One major RV manufacturer approached Nutron a few years ago with a product nameplate request with a unique twist—the company wanted to redesign its corporate identification for its high-end trailer equipment; one that would stand out and help communicate premium quality to the customer base. Additionally, the company needed to reserve space on this nameplate to mark some vital information that couldn’t be stamped onto the nameplate, but had to be added by in-house staff mere days prior to shipping the RV unit.

An RV is naturally exposed to a wide variety of elements and experiences wear and tear due to its use in an outdoor environment. Due to this exposure, Nutron had to devise a way to ensure the information added to the corporate identification plate would be legible for the lifespan of the product.

The Nutron graphics and sales team met with the manufacturer’s marketing director to develop a new plate that would enhance the image of their corporate identification and allow the customer to mark the vital information on the product nameplate after it was produced. Fortunately, Nutron works with a variety of materials, inks and finishes designed to withstand harsh conditions, such as abrasion, corrosion, chemicals or weather and temperature.

Nutron suggested and then incorporated a new ink process using a durable material for the nameplate, anodized aluminum, to allow for a unique finish. This process helped the logo pop while allowing space and the ability to add the other vital information later on. Not only did the team at Nutron make it possible for this later addition, it also kept the process economical, to fit within the budget requirements specified by the manufacturer.

In the end, the new corporate identification developed in collaboration with the customer and the Nutron team allowed for an attractive logo plate that supplied the durability, legibility and flexibility to last the lifespan of the product.
